The Dua of Ibrahim [AS] – An Awesome Dua
Bismillah.
And remember when Ibrahim (Abraham) and (his son) Isma’il (Ishmael) were raising the foundations of the House (the Ka’bah at Makkah), (saying), “Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us. Truly! You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.”
Our Lord! And make us submissive unto You and of our offspring a nation submissive unto You, and show us our Manasik (all the ceremonies of pilgrimage – Hajj and ‘Umrah), and accept our repentance. Truly, You are the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.
[AlBaqarah:127-128]
Let’s look at this situation: we have two of the best of Allah’s creation (Ibrahim and Ismael, upon them be peace) making the most holy structure on the face of the Earth (the Ka’bah) in the most sanctified place on Earth (Makkah)…what is it the thought that is going through their minds? Acceptance of this act and repentance.
Ibrahim, upon him be peace, was tested by Allah throughout his life. Ismael, upon him be peace, was tried by Allah since he was a little baby. They came out of these tests with the stamp of approval from Allah regarding their sincerity…YET, they are concerned whether their actions will be accepted by Allah…and they are praying to Allah WHILE making the Ka’bah to accept their efforts!
How often do we ask Allah to accept our acts of worship? None of us can ever reach the level of Ibrahim or Ismael, upon them be peace. None of us can ever stand the trials they went through. None of us can ever do a da’wah project like that of Ibrahim and Ismael, upon them be peace. Yet, these two Prophets of Allah were beseeching Allah to accept their acts of worship…and what are we doing?

Allah, accept all our deeds from us and multiply our rewards. Truly, You and Only You are the Al-Samee’, Al-’Aleem.
